Hook score: +1068
Why this works:
Timeliness – Starting a YouTube channel in 2023 is on many people’s minds right now, so this title rides that wave.
Beginners – This is about “starting” a channel, not scaling a channel. It caters to beginners, which are the biggest, hungriest subset of any audience.
Desire – This creator’s audience would love to start a YouTube channel in 2023.
How you can use this hook: Tell your audience how you would start something for the upcoming year.
Examples of this hook in action:
- How I’d Learn To Cook BBQ in 2023
- How I’d Start an Ecommerce Store in 2023
Flop of the Week
Title: Dental School Q&A | Entering My 4th Year!
Hook score: -90
Why this flopped: This title probably flopped for two reasons: its boring and off-topic.
It’s boring because there’s no emotion. She could’ve added emotion by talking about the hardest or worst thing about dental school.
And it’s off-topic because most of her videos are about clothes, not dental school.
So the next time you make a video, make sure its about a topic your audience is interested in watching on your channel and include emotion into the title.
Alright, that wraps up this week’s Creator Hooks!
If you know a fellow creator who needs help with writing better titles, please send them to creatorhooks.com.
Here’s to the war on boring content.
