Driving Drill

Formula: The No. 1 Reason I Am NOW (Achieving Goal)!…INCREDIBLE (Activity)!
Hook score: +385
Why this works:
Desire – This creator’s audience wants to hit their driver 300 yards.
Curiosity – This opens a loop because it doesn’t tell you what the “No.1 Reason” is, but makes you want to know what it is, so you have to click.
How you can use this hook: Tell your audience the number 1 reason you’re achieving a goal.
Examples of this hook in action:

The 99% Trick
Title: 99% of EXs WILL Come Back and CHASE you IF you do this ONE THING | Scientific Studies Included
Formula: 99% of (People) WILL (Positive Activity) IF you do this ONE THING
Hook score: +473
Why this works:
Desire – This creator’s audience wants their exs to come back and chase them.
Curiosity – This opens a loop because it doesn’t tell you what “this ONE THING” is, but makes you want to know what it is, so you have to click.
99% – The “99%” catches people’s eyes and adds a bit of curiosity.
How you can use this hook: Tell your audience that what they really want will happen if they do this one thing.
Examples of this hook in action:
- 99% of Cars Would Be Faster If They Had This ONE Change
- 99% of Men Look Slimmer When They Wear This ONE Thing

Cool Quilt
Title: Create a Spectacular Quilt with Just Scraps and this Free Pattern!
Formula: Create a Spectacular (Outcome) with Just (Object) and this Free (Object)!
Hook score: +518
Why this works:
Desire – This title promises a lot for a little by saying you can get a spectacular quilt with “just scraps” and a “free pattern”.
How you can use this hook: Tell your audience how they can make or do something amazing without having to spend or sacrifice a lot.

Creepy Commissions
Title: My CREEPIEST Commission Story [Art + Storytime]
Formula: My CREEPIEST (Niche) Story

Why this works:
Creepy – People just love creepy stories a lot.
How you can use this hook: Tell your creepiest story that’s relevant to your audience.

So Long Side Hustles
Title: Want to be Rich? DON’T Start a Side Hustle.
Formula: Want to (Achieve Goal)? DON’T (Common Solution)
Hook score: +1040
Why this works:
Desire – This creator’s audience wants to be rich and the question in the beginning lets the audience know this video is for them.
Curiosity – A lot of people want to start side hustles because they want to be rich, so this title telling you not to start a side hustle is counterintuitive to that thought.
How you can use this hook: Call out your audience with a question and then tell them to do the opposite of what they think they should be doing.
Examples of this hook in action:
- Want to be skinny? DON’T do Cardio
- Want a new Job? DON’T Look on Indeed
Flop of the Week
Title: Scottie Scheffler Makes This Challenge Look EASY…It’s NOT!
Hook score: -85
Why this flopped: There’s no reason for the audience to watch.
This channel is more about education than entertainment, so the audience wants to learn something from these videos.
But this title is all entertainment and doesn’t promise any benefit to the audience.
To avoid this mistake, know why your audience watches and deliver it to them in every video.
Also, if it were me, I’d test “World’s Best Golfer” in place of Scottie Scheffler’s name in the title.
I’m not really up to date with current golfers, but “World’s Best Golfer” is more broadly appealing than “Scottie Scheffler” (no offense, Scottie), and they already put his name in the thumbnail.
