I’ve asked some of the best creators on YouTube, “How do you write such great titles?”
And they’ve all said the same thing: “I just model what works.”
So this email will show you 5 videos worth modeling to help you write great titles and save time.

Bird is the Word
Title: 40 English Words You’ll Use Every Day – Basic Vocabulary #44
Framework: 40 (Entities) You’ll Use Every Day – (Keywords)
Hook score: +436
Why this works:
List – Lists make videos feel more tangible (you know exactly what the video will be about) and they add some curiosity.
Daily – Talking about things you can use every day makes a video feel more tangible and valuable.
Beginners – Making this video about “basic vocabulary” attracts beginners, which is the biggest, hungriest part of any audience.
How you can use this framework: Tell your audience about a list of things beginners will use every day.
Examples of this framework in action:
- 5 Cleaning Products New Moms Will Use Every Day
- 7 Basketball Moves You’ll Use Every Game – Improve Your Basketball Game
Elon’s X
Title: What’s WRONG with the Twitter 𝕏 Logo ⁉️
Framework: What’s WRONG with (Trending Thing) ⁉️
Hook score: +484
Why this works:
Timeliness – This video was published right around the time Elon changed the name from Twitter to X and changed the logo, so everybody was talking about this.
Curiosity – This title builds curiosity by asking a question and the thumbnail builds curiosity with the red circle making you wonder what’s wrong with it.
Negativity – People are drawn to negativity and drama and critiquing a new logo of a popular company fits this perfectly.
How you can use this framework: Ask what’s wrong with something trending right now.
Examples of this framework in action:
- What’s WRONG with the Barbie Movie ⁉️
- What’s WRONG with Remote Work ⁉️

Food Facts
Title: The truth about organic food – according to science | Tim Spector
Framework: The truth about (Topic) – according to (Authority) | (Authority Figure)
Hook score: +484
Why this works:
Curiosity – “The Truth About” makes you feel like you’re getting in on a secret and finally learning “the truth”. This phrase also opens a loop because you need to click to learn the truth.
Negativity – The title feels a little ominous and the thumbnail supports that feeling with the text admitting “I Was Wrong”.
Authority – “according to science” gives this title a little bit more credibility.
How you can use this framework: Tell your audience the truth about a trending or controversial topic, according to an authority figure.
Examples of this framework in action:
- The truth about Flying First Class – according to a flight attendant
- The truth about Lamborghinis – according to a mechanic
Single Stream Speedrun
Title: Copper to Champion in ONE STREAM – R6 Ranked Speedrun Attempt
Framework: (Beginner) to (Expert) in ONE (Activity or Unit of Time) – (Keywords)
Hook score: +891
Why this works:
Constraint – The challenge of going from beginner to expert level in just one stream makes for an entertaining video.
How you can use this framework: Take on the challenge of going from beginner to expert in a small unit of time.
Examples of this framework in action:
- From 0 to 100,000 Subs with ONE Video – Cracking The Youtube Algorithm
- How I Went From Beginner to Fluent Spanish Speaker in ONE Month
Mailbox Money
Title: How She Makes $50k a month from Mini-Mailboxes?
Framework: How She (Achieves Goal) from (New and Unlikely Opportunity)?
Hook score: +4702
Why this works:
Desire – This creator’s audience would love to make $50K a month with a business.
New Opportunity – New opportunities (like making money with mini-mailboxes) offer hope. People haven’t failed with making money from mini-mailboxes yet, so they’re excited about this new opportunity.
How you can use this framework: Share the story of how somebody achieves your audience’s dream goal with a new opportunity.
Examples of this framework in action:
- How He Stopped Slicing The Golf Ball Using The Water Bottle Drill
- How She Lost 20 Pounds With The “Insanity Workout”
Flop of the Week
Title: The truth about menopause supplements | Dr Sarah Berry
Hook score: -90
Why this flopped: This title uses the same framework as the organic food title above, so why did it flop?
Probably because of the smaller market. Many people in this creator’s audience are interested in organic food, but I’m assuming not as many are currently interested in menopause supplements.
I’m not saying views are everything when it comes to YouTube videos, but if getting more views is your goal, it’s important to consider the size of the market.
Alright, that wraps up this week’s Creator Hooks!
