Asking 1,000,000-Subscriber YouTubers How To Be Successful

I’ve asked some of the best creators on YouTube, “How do you write such great titles?”

And they’ve all said the same thing: “I just model what works.”

So this email has 5 videos worth modeling to help you write great titles and save time on research.

Btw, if you want to see all of the titles and thumbnails from Creator Hooks in one place, check out Creator Hooks Pro.

Housing Happenings

Title: Something Huge is Occurring in the Housing Market

Formula: Something Huge is Occurring in the (Industry)

Hook score: +360

Why this works:

Curiosity – This title opens a loop and makes you wonder, “What is happening?” You’ve gotta click to find out.

Timeliness – There’s lots of shifting and and changes going on in the housing market right now, and this video makes you feel like you’re getting new news.

How you can use this hook: Tell your audience that something huge is occurring in your industry.

Examples of this hook in action:

  • Something Huge is Occurring in the Job Market
  • Something Huge is Coming in the Crypto Industry

Kitty Cat Conundrum

Title: 21 Ways You Are Hurting Your Cat Without Realizing

Formula: 21 Ways You Are (Negative Action) Without Realizing

Hook score: +566

Why this works:

List – Lists make a video more tangible (you know exactly what the video is about) and build curiosity.

Negativity – Nobody wants to accidentally hurt their cat, so they watch this video to avoid doing that.

Curiosity – Lists about negative things build lots of curiosity because you ask yourself, “Am I doing any of these?” and you’ve gotta watch to find out.

How you can use this hook: List out ways your audience is doing something they really don’t want to do without realizing it.

Examples of this hook in action:

  • 15 Ways You Are Hurting Your Credit Score Without Realizing
  • 10 Ways You Are Killing Your YouTube Channel Without Realizing

Bezos Blunders

Title: WARNING: Bad News For Amazon Sellers

Formula: WARNING: Bad News For (Your Audience)

Hook score: +944

Why this works:

Negativity – Warnings work really well to get our attention and get us to click.

Authority – Jeff Bezos’ shiny bald head is easily recognizable and quickly gets the audience’s attention.

How you can use this hook: Tell your audience about bad news for them and slap a big ol’ WARNING in all caps in front.

Examples of this hook in action:

  • WARNING: Bad News For Florida Home Owners
  • WARNING: Bad News For Home School Moms

Ask & You Shall Receive

Title: Asking YOUNG Millionaires How to be Successful

Formula: Asking (Who Your Audience Wants To Be Like) How to (Achieve Goal)

Hook score: +1430

Why this works:

Desire – Everyone in this creator’s audience wants to know how to be successful

Authority – This creator is asking authority figures (young millionaires) how they did it.

Curiosity – You really want to see what these young millionaires say, so you’ve gotta watch this video.

How you can use this hook: Ask people who’ve made it in your industry how they did it.

Examples of this hook in action:

  • Asking Fitness Models How To Get Shredded
  • Asking Fishing Guides How To Catch More Fish

Stinky Tricks

Title: THIS Simple Trick Makes Your Bathroom & Toilet SMELL AMAZING!

Formula: THIS Simple Trick (Achieves Goal)

Hook score: +1634

Why this works:

Desire – This creator’s audience (and probably — hopefully — most people) would like to have their bathroom and toilet smell good. This title also promises a lot (an amazing-smelling bathroom) for a little (a simple trick).

Curiosity – This title opens a loop by telling you there’s a simple trick to make your bathroom and toilet smell amazing, but not what that simple trick is.

How you can use this hook: Tell your audience about a simple trick that helps them get what they want.

Examples of this hook in action:

  • THIS Simple Trick Doubles Your iPhone Battery Life
  • THIS Simple Trick Makes Your Lawn Greener In One Week

Flop of the Week

Title: How to Cut and Dice a MANGO! 🥭 (real simple and fast life hacks)

Hook score: -78

Why this flopped: The videos on this channel are mostly about cleaning and house hacks, not so much cooking and kitchen hacks.

Cutting and dicing a mango may be a great topic, but it doesn’t seem like it’s a great topic for this channel.

So when picking your next video topic, make sure you’re giving your audience what they really want to hear from YOU.
