Why growing on YouTube feels impossible

I’ve asked some of the best creators on YouTube, “How do you write such great titles?”

And they’ve all said the same thing: “I just model what works.”

So this email will show you 5 videos worth modeling to help you write great titles and save time.

P.S. If you want to save more time and use a title generator that uses all the titles from this newsletter, check out Creator Hooks Pro.

Stealth Wealth

Title: 12 Habits Of Quietly Wealthy Individuals

Framework: 12 Habits Of (Secretly successful) Individuals

Hook score: +427

Why this works:

List – Lists make videos feel more tangible (you know exactly what the video will be about) and they add some curiosity.

Desire – This creator’s audience wants to learn about the habits of wealthy people so they can become wealthy too.

Curiosity – It’s not obvious that somebody is “quietly wealthy,” so this makes you feel like you’re getting in on a secret.

Authority – This title uses the authority of “wealthy individuals” to get credibility.

How you can use this framework: Tell your audience about the habits of secretly successful people they want to be like.

Examples of this framework in action:

  • 12 Habits Of Calm Parents
  • 10 Habits Of Naturally Fast Language Learners

Transformative Tent

Title: This tent will change backpacking

Framework: This (Entity) will change (Niche)

Hook score: +842

Why this works:

Curiosity – This builds curiosity because it opens up so many questions:

  • what tent is this?
  • what will change?
  • will I like the change?

How you can use this framework: Tell your audience about something that will change your industry and in the thumbnail be vague about what this thing is.

Examples of this framework in action:

  • This book will change your dating life
  • This camera will change photography
  • Write better YouTube titles
  • Grow your channel
  • Save time

Hook score: +1169

List – Lists make videos feel more tangible (you know exactly what the video will be about) and they add some curiosity.

Curiosity – “You Didn’t Know” makes you feel like you’re getting in on a secret.

Interest – This creator’s audience is interested in celebrities and the Andy Griffith Show, which gets them excited about this video.

Canadian Conundrum

Title: Why living in Canada has become Impossible

Framework: Why (Common thing) has become Impossible

Hook score: +1189

Why this works:

Negativity – This is all about a problem and controversy, which grabs people’s attention.

Confirms Suspicions – Some people are already thinking this to themselves, so this title resonates with that feeling.

How you can use this framework: Make a bold, negative statement that connects with a struggle people in your audience are experiencing.

Examples of this framework in action:

  • Why Growing on Instagram has become Impossible
  • Why Eating Healthy Feels Impossible

Senior Specific

Framework: The Best (Time frame) (Action) For (Specific audience)

Hook score: +1702

Why this works:

Desire – This creator’s audience wants exercise routines.

Time Frame – Specifying this exercise routine is 25 minutes makes this video more tangible and desirable.

Specific Audience – Calling out “Seniors Over 60” makes it clear who this video is for and makes them more likely to click.

How you can use this framework: Tell your audience about the best thing for a specific group that takes a specific amount of time.

Examples of this framework in action:

  • The Best 15 Minute Morning Routine For Startup Founders
  • The Best 60 Minute Study Routine For Students

Flop of the Week

order to invest

Title: Optimal Order Of Investing For Self-Employed

Hook score: -80

Why this flopped: The best YouTube titles are clear and bold.

“Optimal” isn’t very clear or bold.

A more clear, bold way to put it could be: “The Best Order Of Investing For Self-Employed.”

It’s also possible this just isn’t a very exciting angle. We could add some more curiosity and excitement into this title like this:

“Invest In This First If You’re Self-Employed”

This title narrows the focus to just one thing thing to invest in first which makes it both more clear and more intriguing.

Lesson: write clear, bold titles about exciting topics.
