You’re (Probably) Killing Your YouTube Channel

I’ve asked some of the best creators on YouTube, “How do you write such great titles?”

And they’ve all said the same thing: “I just model what works.”

So this email will show you 5 videos worth modeling to help you write great titles and save time.

Why this works:

Negativity – Telling people they’re probably killing something they’re trying to grow does a great job at grabbing their attention and getting them to click. And the thumbnail shows something that many people think is good, but has the warning sign over it and text telling them not to do it.

How you can use this framework: Tell your audience that they’re (probably) killing something they’re trying to grow.

Examples of this framework in action:

  • You’re (Probably) Killing Your YouTube Channel
  • You’re (Probably) Killing Your Metabolism

Flop of the Week

windsor chair thumbnail

Title: The Windsor Chair…The ULTIMATE Woodworking Challenge

Hook score: -95

Why this flopped: The title says this video is about the windsor chair, but what does the thumbnail say?

You can barely see the chair because it’s tiny, dark, and off to the side. Instead, her face takes up most of the frame.

If I were to redo this thumbnail, I’d show the chair big and bright and close, and show why it’s the ultimate woodworking challenge.

Alright, that wraps up this week’s Creator Hooks!
