I’ve asked some of the best creators on YouTube, “How do you write such great titles?”
And they’ve all said the same thing: “I just model what works.”
So this email will show you 5 videos worth modeling to help you write great titles and save time.

Under The Hood

Framework: We Put a (Expensive Thing) in our (Cheap Thing)
Hook score: +333
Why this works:
Curiosity – The contrast between $10,000 engine and $500 Civic, and how counterintuitive it is to do that builds a ton of curiosity and interest.
How you can use this framework: Pair something expensive with something cheap for a weird, funny adventure.

Flop of the Week
Title: How to photograph the NORTHERN LIGHTS.
Hook score: -76
Why this flopped: This video flopped because it has a small potential audience. Unless you’re searching for this, you’re probably not going to watch this video.
On the other hand, many photographers use ISO 100, so “The TRUTH about shooting at ISO 100 that the PROS know”, featured earlier in this email, can be watched and enjoyed by many photographers.
If you want to make videos that get lots of views, you need to have a relatively large potential audience.
In addition to this problem, this title is boring.
Here are two options for how he could’ve spiced it up:
- Beginner’s Guide To Photographing the NORTHERN LIGHTS.
- How to photograph the NORTHERN LIGHTS In 2023.
