4 Habits That Keep YouTube Channels small

I’ve asked some of the best creators on YouTube, “How do you write such great titles?”

And they’ve all said the same thing: “I just model what works.”

So this email will show you 5 videos worth modeling to help you write great titles and save time.

Hook score: +362

Why this works:

Negativity – This title is all about warning her audience against houseplants she didn’t like.

List – Lists make videos feel more tangible (you know exactly what the video will be about) and they add some curiosity.

Curiosity – The end of this title is a cliff-hanger — it makes you want to know what the 10 houseplants are.

Flop of the Week

jealous person thumbnail

Title: If you’re a Jealous Person, watch this

Hook score: -81

Why this flopped: I think this flopped because nobody gets excited and says, “Hey, I’m a jealous person! This video is for me.”

I have a feeling that it would’ve done better if, instead of labeling the person as jealous, it positioned jealousy as a problem that can be fixed. Something like, “Watch This To STOP Feeling Jealous.”

Alright, that wraps up this week’s Creator Hooks!
