I’ve asked some of the best creators on YouTube, “How do you write such great titles?”
And they’ve all said the same thing: “I just model what works.”
So this email will show you 5 videos worth modeling to help you write great titles and save time.
Btw, if you want to see all of the titles and thumbnails from Creator Hooks in one place, check out Creator Hooks Pro.
Tiny Camera Big Changes
Title: This TINY Camera Accessory Changes EVERYTHING!
Formula: This TINY (Object) Changes EVERYTHING!
Hook score: +302
Why this works:
Curiosity – There’s contrast between “tiny object” and “changes everything”, and “Changes EVERYTHING” kinda opens a loop. You wonder, does it really change everything? How?
Extreme – “Changes EVERYTHING” is much more interesting than “changes a lot”
How you can use this hook: Tell your audience about the tiny object that changes everything.
Examples of this hook in action:
- This TINY Tax Loop Changes EVERYTHING!
- This TINY Thumbnail Tweak Changes EVERYTHING!
No Haus
Title: Why Germans Don’t Buy Houses | Feli from Germany
Formula: Why (Group) Don’t (Action)
Hook score: +359
Why this works:
Curiosity – Buying a house is a normal, innocent behavior, so it doesn’t make sense why an entire group of people wouldn’t buy a house.
How you can use this hook: Tell the story of why a group in your niche doesn’t do something seemingly normal or innocent.
Examples of this hook in action:
- Why Chefs Don’t Use This Common Ingredient
- Why Real Estate Owners Don’t Like Single Family Homes
Kick The Habit
Title: 3 Bad Habits Every Poor Man Should Give Up
Formula: 3 Bad Habits Every (Specific Type of Person) Should Give Up
Hook score: +531
Why this works:
List – Lists make a video feel more tangible and add some curiosity.
Negativity – There’s a little bit of fear here that makes you want to click and find out if you have these bad habits.
Specific Audience – By calling out poor men specifically in the title, it makes poor men more likely to click.
How you can use this hook: Tell your audience about the 3 bad habits a specific group of them should give up.
Examples of this hook in action:
- 3 Bad Habits Every “Influencer” Should Give Up
- 3 Bad Habits Every Runner Should Give Up
Here Comes 911
Title: Engineer Builds GREATEST Ambulance Conversion EVER!
Formula: (Position) Builds GREATEST (Object)
Hook score: +547
Why this works:
Extreme – Here’s another example of how taking it to the extreme makes for a fun video.
How you can use this hook: This is a simple one — tell the story of how somebody built or did the greatest thing ever.
Examples of this hook in action:
- Guitar Teacher Builds GREATEST Instrument EVER!
- 13-Year-Old Builds FASTEST RC Car EVER!
Nomad Life
Title: Best 7 Work From Home Companies Currently Hiring | Remote Jobs Worldwide
Formula: Best 7 (Entities) Currently (Action) | (Keywords)
Hook score: +757
Why this works:
List – Lists make a video feel more tangible and add some curiosity.
Urgency – Since this video is about companies currently hiring, there’s a bit of urgency to click now.
Desire – This creator’s audience is looking for jobs at remote companies.
How you can use this hook: Give your audience a list of entities that can help them achieve their goals.
Examples of this hook in action:
- 7 Best Countries To Work Remotely From In 2023 | Digital Nomad Life
- Best 7 Vegetables I’m Currently Growing | Fall Vegetables
Flop of the Week
Title: Hilarious Fails & Bloopers from “How German Sounds Compared To Other Languages” 😂
Hook score: -92
Why this flopped: This video probably flopped for a few reasons.
First, this doesn’t really fit with the other videos on this channel. The other videos are all about differences between America and Germany or her experiences as a German in America.
Second, you kinda have to have seen “How German Sounds Compared To Other Languages” to really appreciate this. This narrows down the total potential audience.
Third, all of the thumbnails have her face on it, and many have the American or German flag. This doesn’t have either of the flags and it kinda has her face on it… but the mustache and wig make her less recognizable.
Alright, that wraps up this week’s Creator Hooks!
