I’ve asked some of the best creators on YouTube, “How do you write such great titles?”
And they’ve all said the same thing: “I just model what works.”
So this email will show you 5 videos worth modeling to help you write great titles and save time.
P.S. If you want to save more time and use a title generator that uses all the titles from this newsletter, check out Creator Hooks Pro.
Super Sabrina
Title: most popular song each month in the 2020s
Framework: most popular (Entity) (In time frame)
Hook score: +420
Why this works:
Interest – People love rankings like this. They’re interesting and they build curiosity.
Time Frame – The time frames of “each month” and “in the 2020s” makes this video more tangible and interesting.
How you can use this framework: Tell your audience about the most popular things in a certain time frame.
Examples of this framework in action:
- most popular TikTok trends each month in the 2020s
- the best NBA team each year in the last 50 years

Timeliness – Humanoid robots are trending more and more as technology improves.
How you can use this framework: Ask if a trending, polarizing topic has gone too far.

Superior Steak
Title: This Cut Of Beef Is Better And Cheaper Than Prime Rib!
Framework: This (Entity) Is (More desirable) Than (Best current option)!
Hook score: +946
Why this works:
Desire – This creator’s audience loves prime rib and something better and cheaper than prime rib sounds awesome.
Curiosity – This builds curiosity because it doesn’t tell you what the cut of beef is, so you have to click to find out.
How you can use this framework: Tell your audience that something is better than what they currently like, but don’t specify what it is to build curiosity.
Examples of this framework in action:
- This Country Is Prettier And Cheaper Than Italy!
- This Camera is Better and Cheaper than the Sony A7!
Ouch
Title: You Were the Smart Kid. So Why Do You Feel So Lost Now?
Framework: You Were the (Accomplished past state). So Why Do You Feel So (Negative emotion) Now?
Hook score: +841
Why this works:
Negativity – This calls out a pain point that grabs people’s attention and interest.
Specific Audience – This calls out a very specific audience with “You Were the Smart Kid,” to grab the right audience’s attention and make them feel like this video was made for them.
Curiosity – This builds curiosity by asking a question.
How you can use this framework: Call out the right audience by mentioning a very specific situation, then ask why they’re experiencing a specific pain point.
Examples of this framework in action:
- You Were the Athletic Kid. So Why Are You So Out Of Shape Now?
- You Used To Be Happy. So Why Are You So Down Now?
Invisible Items
Title: Here’s How To Make Your Assets Invisible From Creditors
Framework: Here’s How To Make Your (Possession) Invisible From (People who want to take advantage of possession)
Hook score: +1863
Why this works:
Desire – This creator’s audience wants to make their assets invisible from creditors.
Negativity – This video is about avoiding a problem.
I also think a big part of this video’s success is that the word “invisible” is such a great word. It feels secretive, powerful and cool.
How you can use this framework: Tell your audience how to do something to avoid a problem, and use powerful, descriptive language.
Examples of this framework in action:
- Here’s How To Make Your Crypto Wallet Invisible From Scammers
- Here’s How To Make Your Anxiety Invisible On Dates
Flop of the Week
Title: Make This Iconic Sandwich At Home!
Hook score: -75
Why this flopped: If you want to write great titles, you need to know your audience. You need to know their fears, desires, obstacles, and problems.
And keeping that in mind, I think one of the reasons this video flopped is because making this iconic sandwich at home just isn’t a big problem for them.
It might’ve been better to make the focus of the title about a different problem, like price or time:
“Make This Iconic Sandwich For Under $5!”
“Make This Iconic Sandwich In 5 Minutes!”
There’s also the possibility that this creator’s audience is into big hunks of meats, not sandwiches, so maybe this video was doomed from the start.
But that’s why we do thorough research, right?
Alright, that wraps up this week’s Creator Hooks!
Hope you enjoyed this week’s edition and if you know a fellow creator who needs help writing better titles, please send them to creatorhooks.com.
