The YouTube Growth Lie No One Talks About

I’ve asked some of the best creators on YouTube, “How do you write such great titles?”

And they’ve all said the same thing: “I just model what works.”

So this email will show you 5 videos worth modeling to help you write great titles and save time.

P.S. If you want to save more time and use a title generator that uses all the titles from this newsletter, check out Creator Hooks Pro.

Sickly Soil

stop using this soil

Title: The Soil Mix Slowly POISONING Your Garden Beds

Framework: The (Entity) Slowly (Harming) Your (Possession)

Hook score: +307

Why this works:

Negativity – This leverages fear to get people to click. And “Slowly” makes this a little bit more specific and sinister.

Curiosity – This opens a loop and makes you want to know which soil mix this is.

How you can use this framework: Tell your audience that something is slowly harming something you own.

Examples of this framework in action:

  • The Simple Phrase That’s Slowly Poisoning Your Marriage
  • These Cleaning Products Are Slowly Ruining Your House

Saucy Secrets

steak and A1 sauce

Title: A.1. Sauce Was Never intended For Steak…

Framework: (Entity) Was Never intended For (Apparent intention)…

Hook score: +346

Why this works:

Curiosity – This is counterintuitive because everybody assumes A1 was made for steak.

How you can use this framework: Tell your audience about how something that is largely used for one reason was actually never intended to.

Examples of this framework in action:

  • TikTok Was Never Intended For Videos…
  • Ferrari Never Intended To Make Cars…
  • Write better YouTube titles
  • Grow your channel
  • Save time

Grandpa Goals

man jogging

Title: The Longevity Lie No One Talks About

Framework: The (Subject) Lie No One Talks About

Hook score: +443

Why this works:

Curiosity – This opens a loop and makes you want to know what this lie is. It also makes you feel like you’re getting in on a secret.

Negativity – People love dramatic things, like lies.

How you can use this framework: Tell your audience about a lie in your niche that nobody talks about.

Examples of this framework in action:

  • The RV Lie No One Talks About
  • The Vibe Coding Lie No One Talks About

Oozing Aura

charismatic

Title: The Key to Being SO Charismatic People Want To Be Around You.

Framework: The Key to Being SO (Desired attribute) (Desired outcome).

Hook score: +809

Why this works:

Desire – This creator’s audience would love to be so charistmatic people want to be around them.

Curiosity – This opens a loop and makes you want to know what the key is.

There’s also a bit of “show don’t tell” going on here. This title could be “How To Be SUPER Charismatic”, but being so charismatic “People Want To Be Around You”, does a better job of showing the end goal.

How you can use this framework: Tell your audience about the key to doing something extremely well.

Examples of this framework in action:

  • The Key to Being SO Persuasive Clients Say Yes Before You Finish Talking
  • The Key to Being SO Fun Your Kids Choose You Over Their Friends

Ratchet Regrets

unsafe tool

Title: You’re Using Ratchet Straps Wrong

Framework: You’re Using (Simple tool) Wrong

Hook score: +1081

Why this works:

Negativity – Nobody wants to do something the wrong way, so this title leverages that fear.

Curiosity – This makes you wonder what the right way to use ratchet straps is. Also, if a lot of people use ratchet straps like how they show in the thumbnail, it’s counterintuitive because those people think thats how to use them.

How you can use this framework: Tell your audience that they’re using something wrong.

Examples of this framework in action:

  • You’re Gripping Your Driver Wrong
  • You’re Using ChatGPT Wrong

Flop of the Week

foods with dyes

Title: Why Food Dye HAD To Die

Hook score: -65

Why this flopped: This video was probably doomed from the start.

It’s too obvious. Food dye isn’t exactly known for being healthy, so it’s not that big of a mystery of why it had to die.

Instead of focusing on the obvious, this title might’ve done better if it was a little bit more vague and curiosity-building.

“The Hidden Poison In 90% Of The Food You Eat”

“We Ate This Poison For 45 Years Before It Was Banned”

These titles aren’t factually correct, but they’re just an example of how you could refocus the title to build a question in your audience’s mind that they actually want answered.
