I’ve asked some of the best creators on YouTube, “How do you write such great titles?”
And they’ve all said the same thing: “I just model what works.”
So this email will show you 5 videos worth modeling to help you write great titles and save time.

Title: I Tested Every FREE Animation App
Framework: I Tested Every FREE (Tool)
Hook score: +390
Why this works:
Free – People love free things, and they also appeal to the biggest potential audience because they’re free.
Epic – Testing “Every” free animation app kinda gives this title a feeling of completeness and epicness.
How you can use this framework: Test every free version of something in your niche.
Examples of this framework in action:
- I Tried Every FREE Music Recording Software
- I Tested Every FREE Meal Tracking App
The One and Only
Title: The Only Camera They Ever Made That Shoots Like Film
Framework: The Only (Entity) They Ever Made That (Achieves big goal)
Hook score: +783
Why this works:
Scarcity – This video being about the “Only” camera that shoots like film adds scarcity to this title that makes this video and this camera way more interesting.
Curiosity – This opens a loop and makes you wonder what this camera is.
How you can use this framework: Tell your audience about the only thing “they” ever made that does something unexpected or extra.
Examples of this framework in action:
- The Only Headphones They Ever Made That Sound Like Live Music
- The Only Country That Feels Like Visiting Medieval Times

You Were Right
Title: Yes, Your Makeup IS Aging You! | 8 Mistakes You Might Be Making & How To Fix Them
Framework: Yes, Your (Possession) IS (Unwanted result)! | 8 Mistakes You Might Be Making & How To Fix Them
Hook score: +886
Why this works:
Confirms Suspicions – Confirming to your audience that what they suspect is true can be an excellent way to get them to click. “Yes, Your Makeup IS Aging You!” in this title gives them that feeling.
List – Lists make videos feel more tangible (you know exactly what the video will be about), and they add some curiosity.
Mistakes – Nobody wants to make mistakes, so mistakes often make for great video topics.
How you can use this framework: First, confirm to your audience that their suspicions were right. Then, tell them about mistakes they might be making and how to fix them.
P.S. I’m not typically a fan of two-part titles like this, so you could even try just one of the parts before or after the vertical bar.

Title: She’s Shy. She Stutters. Then SHE SINGS… You Won’t Believe It!
Framework: (Objection). (Objection). Then (Action)… You Won’t Believe It!
Hook score: +963
Why this works:
Curiosity – This title builds curiosity in two ways:
- There’s contrast between shy and stutters, and sings.
- It opens a loop and makes you wonder what happens when she sings.
How you can use this framework: Tell your audience about all sorts of objections, then tee up a cliffhanger.
Examples of this framework in action:
- My pictures were bland and boring… then I edited them.
- He’s short. He’s old. Then he stepped on the court… You Won’t Believe It!
The Marriage Manual
Title: Marriage Explained in 8 Minutes
Framework: (Entity) Explained in 8 Minutes
Hook score: +1006
Why this works:
Time Frame – The time frame of 8 minutes makes this video feel more tangible and lets you know exactly what to expect.
Curiosity – Attempting to explain something so important and complex in a short amount of time builds curiosity.
How you can use this framework: Explain a complex thing in a relatively short, but specific amount of time. Bonus points if you drop in a warning in the thumbnail text.
Examples of this framework in action:
- Christianity Explained in 8 Minutes
- NBA Gambling Problem Explained in 9 Minutes
Flop of the Week
Title: This TINY Full Frame Camera Can Do It All.
Hook score: -81
Why this flopped: I think what went wrong here is “can do it all” just isn’t specific enough.
Here’s what this video is about:
- The one camera and lens he uses to shoot photo and video at the same time.
- The accessories, settings, and workflow he uses to do that.
Let’s brainstorm a few other titles.
He could’ve focused on the constraint and scarcity that this is the single camera he uses to shoot photo and video at the same time:
“The ONLY Camera I Use To Shoot Photo & Video”
But what if people aren’t interested in shooting photo and video with one camera? I’m not in this niche, so I don’t know if that’s the case, but if it is, we could go with a title like this:
“If I Could Have Only ONE Camera, It Would Be This One”
People love videos about settings, so another option is to only focus the title on the settings:
“The Settings I Use To Shoot Photo & Video With ONE Camera”
