Why this works:
Desire – Not only does this channel’s audience want to attract love, but “effortlessly” makes this video even more enticing and “mindset shifts” don’t sound like a lot of work.
List – Lists make videos feel more tangible (you know exactly what the video will be about) and they add some curiosity.
How you can use this hook: Tell your audience how they can attract something they want effortlessly with a few mindset shifts.

Why this works:
Timeliness – This video was published 6 days after Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was released, so everybody was talking about this at the time.
Time Frame – The time frame of “3 minutes” makes you feel like you’re going to understand this complex topic in a short amount of time.
How you can use this hook: Explain a transformation of something (preferably something trending) in a short amount of time.

Why this works:
Authority – This is clash of the Controversial Titans right here. Dropping both of their names makes this video irresistible to this audience.
Drama – The expression on both of their faces promises this video will be filled with lots of drama.
How you can use this hook: Tell your audience what one controversial figure thinks about another.

Why this works:
Desire – This channel’s audience loves expensive dinners and fancy steaks (can you still call them steaks at this level?).
Curiosity – This title makes you wonder what the outcome of this competition is and which beef is the best.
Authority – Although there are no “authority figures” in this title, Wagyu and Kobe are household names that grab people’s attention.
Epic – The expensive price tag, Tokyo, and the famous types of beef all make this video feel epic.
How you can use this hook: Compare high-end things in your niche against each other.

Flop of the Week
Title: The First Cut is the Deepest
Hook score: -95
Why this flopped: This title breaks the #1 rule when it comes to writing titles:
Be clear, not clever.
This title tells you nothing about what’s in the video, so people don’t click.
To avoid making this mistake, be crystal clear about what your video is about in your title.
