Paper Planning

woman holding pen in hand

Title: The Top 1% Think on Paper. Here’s How To Do It.

Framework: The Top 1% (Specific activity). Here’s How To Do It.

Hook score: +373

Why this works:

Authority – This builds trust and credibility by sharing what the top 1% do.

Desire – This creator’s audience would love to think like the 1%.

Specificity – “Think on Paper” is specific and a little different, so it adds curiosity and hope (if you’re not in the top 1% and you haven’t tried to think on paper, maybe this is the thing that’ll get you there).

How you can use this framework: Tell your audience that the top 1% do something slightly unique and how to do it.

Examples of this framework in action:

  • The Top 1% Have Endless Energy. Here’s To Get It.
  • The Top 1% Don’t Apply For Jobs. Here’s How They Get Their Dream Careers.

5 Minute Fix

too close?

Title: If I Only Had 5 Minutes With Most Golfers, I’d Change This

Framework: If I Only Had 5 Minutes With Most (Group of people), I’d Change This

Hook score: +695

Why this works:

Curiosity – This opens a loop and makes you wonder what he’d change.

Constraint & Time Frame – The short time frame of “5 minutes” makes this video feel more tangible and interesting, and this constraint makes what he’s gonna tell you feel more important.

Desire – This doens’t explicitly say the viewers will improve their golf by watching this video, but it’s implied.

Specific Audience – This calls out Golfers in the title to make sure they know this video is for them.

How you can use this framework: Tell your audience that if you had a short amount of time with them, here’s what you’d change.

Examples of this framework in action:

  • If I Only Had 5 Minutes With Most Guitar Players, I’d Change This
  • If I Only Had 1 Day In Italy, I’d Go Here
  • Write better YouTube titles
  • Grow your channel

Freak Athletes

Mutant athletes

Title: The 5 Scariest Athletes in Sports History

Framework: The 5 Scariest (Entities) in (Category) History

Hook score: +725

Why this works:

List – Lists make videos feel more tangible (you know exactly what the video will be about), and they add some curiosity.

Fear – People love dramatic, scary things like “Scariest Athletes”.

Epic & Extreme – “Scariest” and “in Sports History” make this title feel epic, extreme, and interesting.

How you can use this framework: Tell your audience about the scariest things in your niche’s history.

Examples of this framework in action:

  • The 5 Scariest Movies In History
  • The 5 Scariest Police Chases in History

2 Steps Back

camera making you worse

Title: This Obsession Is RUINING Your Photo

Framework: This Obsession Is RUINING Your (Possessions)!

Hook score: +1166

Why this works:

Curiosity – This opens a loop and makes you want to know what this obsession is. It’s also slightly counterintuitive because it implies that you probably think your obsession is actually good for your photos.

Fear – Nobody wants to accidentally ruin their photos, and this title leverages that fear to get people to click.

How you can use this framework: Tell your audience about how something they think is good is actually ruining their progress.

Examples of this framework in action:

  • This Obsession Is RUINING Your Sourdough Bread
  • This Obsession Is RUINING Your House

Publicly Private

hidden iphone features

Title: These iPhone Features Are HIDDEN In Plain Sight

Framework: These (Entities) Are HIDDEN In Plain Sight

Hook score: +175046

Why this works:

Curiosity – This builds curiosity in three ways:

  1. It opens a loop and makes you want to know what these features are.
  2. “HIDDEN In Plain Sight” uses secrecy to get you interested in this video.
  3. “HIDDEN In Plain Sight” is an oxymoron.

Tangible – People love tangible, specific things, like features, settings, specific words, etc.

How you can use this framework: Tell your audience about things that are hidden in plain sight.

Examples of this framework in action:

  • These Avengers Easter Eggs Are HIDDEN In Plain Sight
  • These Sony A7 Features Are HIDDEN In Plain Sight

Flop of the Week

AI picks the lesson

Title: You’re Probably Making These Golf Mistakes — Here’s the Fix

Hook score: -84

Why this flopped: There’s a lot going on here.

First, if we just wanted to focus on the title, given that this broad angle has flopped, we might want to zoom in and focus on a specific mistake, like “You’re Probably Gripping Your Driver Wrong — Here’s the Fix”.

Second (and this is probably the bigger one), my guess is that the viewers aren’t interested in the thumbnail: ai picking the lesson with a ChatGPT logo. They don’t care about that — they just want to get better at golf.

Third, your title and thumbnail don’t need to describe your video. In this case, “ai picks the lesson” and the ChatGPT logo are irrelevant — the viewer just wants to get better at golf. If the title and thumbnail were built around that, this video might’ve done better.

Plant Feelings

never rotate

Title: 15 Things Plants Hate and Wish You’d Stop Doing

Framework: 15 Things (Entities) Hate and Wish You’d Stop Doing

Hook score: +694

Why this works:

List – Lists make videos feel more tangible (you know exactly what the video will be about), and they add some curiosity.

Negativity – Nobody wants to mess up their plants, and this title leverages that feeling.

How you can use this framework: Tell your audience about things that something you have or take care of hates and wish you’d stop doing.

Examples of this framework in action:

  • 10 Things Your Car Hates and Wish You’d Stop Doing
  • 10 Things Your Immune System Hates and Wish You’d Stop Doing

Terrible Tragedies

thumbnails of tragedies

Title: The Most Devastating Tragedies in History Explained

Framework: The Most Devastating (Entities) in History Explained

Hook score: +1084

Why this works:

Epic & Extreme – “Most Devastating” (extreme) and “in History” (epic) make this video feel more interesting and exciting.

Negativity – People love drama like this.

How you can use this framework: Tell your audience about the most devastating things in history in your niche.

Examples of this framework in action:

  • The Most Devastating NFL Upsets in History
  • The Most Devastating Weapons in History Explained

PGA Perks

15 perks for the champ

Title: Every INSANE Perk a Masters Champion Gets Explained in 18 Minutes!

Framework: Every INSANE (Benefits for an entity) Explained in (Video length)!

Hook score: +1948

Why this works:

Epic – “INSANE” makes this video feel epic, and “Every” makes it feel complete, comprehensive, and kinda adds to the epicness.

Time frame – The time frame of “in 18 Minutes” sets expectations and makes this video feel more tangible and interesting.

How you can use this framework: Tell your audience about every insane, cool perk or benefit of something.

Examples of this framework in action:

  • Every INSANE Benefit of Eating Cucumbers Daily Explained in 9 Minutes!
  • Every INSANE Perk of Living in Orlando Explained in 18 Minutes!

Bible is Better

this freed me

Title: The Bible Taught Me How to Manage My Time Better Than Any Self-Help Book

Framework: The (Unexpected, but desirable source) Taught Me How to (Achieve goal) Better Than Any (Expected source)

Hook score: +5775

Why this works:

Desire – This creator’s audience would love to manage their time better. They also love that these tips are from the bible.

Curiosity – Since the bible isn’t necessarily meant to help you manage your time, this title is a little surprising and counterintuitive.

How you can use this framework: Tell your audience how something they like taught them to do something they’re trying to do better than the expected ways you’d learn to do that thing.

Examples of this framework in action:

  • The Bible Taught Me How to Have a Great Marriage Better Than Any Therapist
  • MrBeast videos taught me how to sell better than any sales guru

Mastering the Mind

habits that increase IQ

Title: This Is How Geniuses Train Their Mind — IQ Is Not Fixed

Framework: This Is How (Authority figures achieve a goal) — (Refute objection)

Hook score: +6739

Why this works:

Desire – This creator’s audience would love to get smarter.

Authority – This is about how “Geniuses” train their minds, not just any old person. This is also supported in the thumbnail with Einstein, Isaac Newton, and Gandalf.

Refute objection – Many people think their IQ is fixed, but the end of this title refutes that objection.

Specificity – This title feels a bit more believable and exciting because it’s so specific. “This Is How Geniuses Get Smart” doens’t have as much punch.

How you can use this framework: Tell your audience how the best in your field achieve a goal, and refute the objection that their baseline state cannot be changed.

Examples of this framework in action:

  • This Is How 80-Year-Olds Stay Fit — Aging Is Not The Cause of Joint Pain
  • This Is How Old Money Got So Rich — You Don’t Have To Follow Society’s Rules

Flop of the Week

why your brain refuses to learn

Title: Why You Can’t Learn the Way You Think | The Fast Learning Formula

Hook score: -97

Why this flopped: This formula, “Why You Can’t [Activity] the Way You Think” is only effective if everybody has strong opinions about the right way to do the activity.

My theory for why this flopped is that I don’t think everybody has strong opinions about the right way to learn (or at least, not strong enough to be intrigued by this title).

However, I do think everybody wants to learn fast, so instead of sticking that at the end, we could lead with it:

“The Fastest Way To Learn Anything You Want (According to Science)”

We could also use curiosity by adding some contrast (easy vs. hard):

“The Easiest Way to Learn Hard Skills (Explained In 3 Minutes)”

Elite DNA

it's in their DNA

Title: The DNA That Makes Dobermans Unlike Any Other Dog on Earth

Framework: The (Official-sounding attribute) That Makes (Specific entity) Unlike Any (Broader entity) on Earth

Hook score: +2154

Why this works:

Believability – The fact that this is about their DNA and not just somebody’s opinion makes this feel more believable.

Curiosity – This sparks two questions in the audience’s mind:

  1. What about their DNA is unique?
  2. How does that make them different than other dogs?

How you can use this framework: Tell your audience about the DNA (or some other scientific or official-sounding thing) that makes something in your niche unique.

Examples of this framework in action:

  • The Engineering That Makes Porsche 911s Unlike Any Other Car on Earth
  • The Process That Makes Wagyu Unlike Any Other Beef on Earth

Desire – This creator’s audience would love to land any job.

Curiosity – This opens a loop and makes you want to know what these 6 principles are.

How you can use this framework: Tell your audience that psychology says they can achieve any big goal once they understand a handful of principles.

  • Psychology says you can learn any skill once you understand these 6 principles

  • How to get 1% better at Guitar every day

Budget Bike

clueless

Title: Why Americans STILL Ignore the $2,000 Motorcycle That RULES the World

Framework: Why (Group) STILL Ignore the (Entity) That RULES the World

Hook score: +4876

Why this works:

Curiosity – It’s counterintuitive that Americans would ignore a cheap bike that apparently is popular everywhere else. (Well, maybe not…)

Price – Dropping in the price shows the audience that this is an affordable bike, which is better than just describing it as affordable.

How you can use this framework: Tell your audience why somebody is still ignoring a better option or making a weird mistake.

Examples of this framework in action:

  • Why Americans STILL Ignore the $100 Phone That RULES the World
  • Why Runners STILL Ignore The $80 Shoes That Save Your Feet

Married Money Mistakes

couples miss this rule

Title: Hidden Social Security Rule Costing Couples Thousands (Most Miss This)

Framework: Hidden [Entity] Rule Costing [Specific audience] [Big cost] (Most Miss This)

Hook score: +14285

Why this works:

Curiosity – This builds curiosity in two ways:

  1. It opens a loop and makes you want to know what this rule is.
  2. It builds secrecy by describing the rule as “hidden” and saying that most miss it.

Fear – Nobody wants to lose out on thousands of dollars from a hidden rule.

How you can use this framework: Tell your audience about a hidden rule with a big cost that most miss.

Examples of this framework in action:

  • Hidden Metabolism Glitch Giving You Extra Belly Fat (Most Miss This)
  • Hidden Instagram Algorithm Rule Costing You Thousands of Views (Most Miss This)

Flop of the Week

no one is ready for what's coming

Title: Most People Will Be Unemployable in 5 Years. Here’s Why.

Hook score: -97

Why this flopped: I see two problems with this title:

First, it’s a little unclear. Why will the people be unemployable? Because they’re entrepreneurs and won’t want to be employed? Or because nobody wants to hire them? I first read it as the second option, but I’m not quite sure.

And here’s a good rule my boss used to always tell me: “If you confuse, you lose.”

It’s the second option (I had to watch the video to make sure), and that brings us to this second problem:

What if I had a channel about how to grow on YouTube and I made a video titled, “Most People’s YouTube Channels Will Be Over in 5 Years. Here’s Why.” Would you watch that?

I don’t know about you, but I probably wouldn’t watch that because that’s not what I’m trying to hear right now. I want tips and hope for a bright future.

So what can we do instead? Here are some titles that have worked well for her channel:

  • “Psychology says you can land any job once you understand these 6 principles” (444K views)
  • “Tell Me About Yourself (Copy This Answer)” (154K views)
  • “5 Signs Your Interview Went Well (From a Former Recruiter)” (40K views”
  • “I Read 10,000 Cover Letters. This One Wins (And it is only 3 sentences)” (31K views)

Looking at these, they’re all benefit-driven and/or tactical.

Taking those as inspiration, here are some other ways we could title this video:

  • “AI is coming for your job. Do this in 2026 to save your career.” (This still uses fear, but also promises helpful tactics.)
  • “Do these 5 things to land your DREAM JOB (even if ai takes over the world)”
  • “How to be better than your coworkers and land any job you want”

Wallet Wellness

not worth the money

Title: 10 Things I Stopped Buying in 2026 (Saved $1,100/month)

Framework: 10 Things I Stopped [Action] in [Current year] ([Result])

Hook score: +1149

Why this works:

List – Lists make videos feel more tangible (you know exactly what the video will be about), and they add some curiosity.

Negativity – Telling people what you’ve stopped doing makes you a little bit scared that they’re accidentally still doing something they shouldn’t be.

Desire – This ends with a big benefit: saving $1,100/month.

Year – Dropping in the current year around the turn of the year is a great way to grab the audience’s attention and let them know this video is relevant right now.

How you can use this framework: Tell your audience about things you stopped doing this year and the big benefit you got from that.

Examples of this framework in action:

  • 10 Design Trends I Stopped Following in 2026 (No more minimalism)

Examples of this framework in action:

  • 20 Forgotten Fashion Items That Need To Make A Comeback
  • 20 Forgotten Vehicles That Need To Make A Comeback

Framework: 6 Rules That Will (Achieve big goal) – A (Authority Figure’s) (Plan).

Hook score: +3795

Why this works:

List – Lists make videos feel more tangible (you know exactly what the video will be about), and they add some curiosity.

Authority – Him dropping in that he’s a “Parts Guy” builds trust through authority here.

Desire – Most people would love their cars to last 300,000 miles.

Curiosity – There’s a bit of curiosity here because you might assume it’s impossible for most cars to last 300,000 miles.

How you can use this framework: Tell your audience about rules from an authority figure to achieve a seemingly impossible goal.

Examples of this framework in action:

  • 6 Rules That Will Keep Your Dog Healthy for 15+ Years – A Veterinarian’s Care Plan

Title: What’s Your Eye Color REALLY Saying About You?

Framework: What’s Your (Attribute) REALLY Saying About You?

How you can use this framework: Ask your audience what one of their attributes is REALLY saying about them.

Examples of this framework in action:

  • What Are Your Hobbies REALLY Saying About You?

Hook score: +5800

Why this works:

List – Lists make videos feel more tangible (you know exactly what the video will be about), and they add some curiosity.

Desire – This uses desire in two ways:

  1. Most people would love to fix their mobility problems and never get injured.
  2. It promises a lot (fixing all your mobility problems) for a little (only 5 exercises.

How you can use this framework: Give your audience a short list of things that accomplish a lot for them.

Examples of this framework in action:

  • 5 Habits That Fix 95% Of Your Money Problems (Never Go Broke)
  • 5 Changes That Fix 95% Of Your Sleep Problems (Never Feel Tired)

Flop of the Week

bonds explained

Title: If You Don’t Understand Bonds, You Don’t Understand Money

Hook score: -97

Why this flopped: I think this video flopped for two reasons:

First, it’s a little bit confusing.

The thumbnail’s job is to grab the audience’s attention. The title’s job is to confirm with the audience that, yes, they do want to watch this video.

“Bonds Explained” in the thumbnail sets you up for a video explaining bonds, but the title kinda undoes that. It’s too clever and not clear enough.

Second, it doesn’t address a clear benefit or pain point.

Am I going to learn about bonds so I can be a better investor so I can make more money?

Or is not knowing about bonds costing me a lot of money right now?

This goes along with the first point: there needs to be a clear reason for people to watch this video.

Sleeping Savior

it reverses damage

Title: Sleep Less than 7 Hours? This Exercise Can Save You

Framework: (Problem)? This (Activity) Can Save You

Hook score: +709

Why this works:

Negativity – This calls out the right audience by asking who’s struggling with a specific problem.

Curiosity – This opens a loop and makes you want to know what this exercise is.

Desire – If you struggle with sleep, you’d love to learn about an exercise that can save you.

How you can use this framework: Call out the right audience by asking if they struggle with a problem, then introduce something that can save them.

Examples of this framework in action:

  • Suck at cooking steak? This video can save you
  • Cops pulled you over? These 4 words can save you

The Psychology of Me

people who stay home

Title: The Psychology of People Who Love Staying At Home

Framework: The Psychology of People Who (Specific attribute)

Hook score: +786

Why this works:

Curiosity – This builds curiosity in two ways:

How you can use this framework: Tell your audience about unserious things that became huge successes.

Examples of this framework in action:

  • 10 DUMB Bets That Made People Millionaires

Flop of the Week

plastic soup

Title: If You Drink Bottled Water, To-Go Coffee, & Eat Canned Soup – Watch THIS Immediately

Hook score: -96

Why this flopped: Normally, I’d tell you to change this title to make it more focused, like “If You Drink To-Go Coffee, Watch THIS Immediately”.

But that was their first title, so I’m assuming it flopped as well:

I still stand by that advice. I typically try to avoid using the word “and” in titles to try to make them as focused as possible. That helps a title be easier to read and more emotionally impactful.

However, that clearly didn’t work here. So what can we do?

One thing we could do is be more direct:

“Stop Drinking To-Go Coffee Right Now”

Or, we could double down on the toxins idea if we think people like that:

“You’re Accidentally Drinking Toxins Every Morning”

Or, we could just totally switch the angle:

“This Changed How I Drink Coffee Forever”

TDLR: If your video flopped, be more direct and emotional, or try a totally new angle to see if it’ll help you get more views.

rewire your brain

Title: Your clothes are literally changing your brain (Here’s the Science)

Framework: Your [Possessions or actions] are literally changing your brain (Here’s the Science)

Hook score: +595

Why this works:

Authority – “(Here’s the Science)” brings some trust to this video.

Curiosity – This builds curiosity two ways:

  1. People love change and it builds curiosity because, although we know that something changed, we don’t know what changed, so we have to click to find out.
  2. It’s counterintuitive that your clothes would literally change your brain.

Interest – Everybody is interested in their own brain, which makes this topic so captivating.

How you can use this framework: Tell your audience that something they do or have is unexpectedly changing their brain.

Flop of the Week

portable fridge

Title: ICECO APL55: A Great Fridge for Camping and Emergencies!

Hook score: -88

Why this flopped: This type of video is always interesting to title.

Do you start with the product or the benefit? Are you trying to rank in search or get on the home page?

Well, if you’re trying to get on the home page, I’d recommend you lead with the benefit. But what’s interesting is that the video that ranks #1 for the search “ICECO APL55” also leads with the benefit, so either way, you probably want to start with the benefit.

But “A Great Fridge for Camping and Emergencies” isn’t that interesting of a benefit. It’s a little too weak. If I was writing the title for this video, I’d pick the single most interesting or extreme thing about this fridge and focus the title on that. Something like this:

“The BEST Fridge For Camping in 2026 (ICECO APL55)”

Or, we could mix things up a bit and only focus on a benefit or emotion:

“If I Could Only Have One Camping Fridge, It’d Be This…”

“Every Prepper Needs This $1,000 Emergency Fridge”

“This Emergency Fridge Changes Everything About How I Prep”

List – Lists make videos feel more tangible (you know exactly what the video will be about), and they add some curiosity.

Fear – The fear of being walked all over does a great job of getting people to click.

Urgency – The fact that these boundaries need to be set early brings some urgency to watch this video asap.

Faceless Forays

hidden niches

Title: The ONLY Faceless Niches You Should Try in 2026

Framework: The ONLY (Entities) You Should Try in (Upcoming or current year)

Hook score: +634

Why this works:

Scarcity – The word “ONLY” adds a constraint and scarcity and makes these niches way more interesting and valuable.

Timeliness – Dropping “in 2026” in the beginning of the year is a great way to get people to click because “2026” is on everybody’s mind right now. It also lets you know that this video is relevant right now.

Desire – This creator’s audience loves learning about new faceless niches.

How you can use this framework: Tell your audience about the ONLY things they should try right now.

Examples of this framework in action:

Morning Moves

this will change your life

Title: 7 Minutes Only… Do This Every Morning

Framework: 7 Minutes Only… Do This Every (Specific moment)

Hook score: +1792

Why this works:

Time Frame – The time frame of “7 minutes” makes this feel more interesting and tangible.

Desire – The time frame of “7 minutes only” plus the big promise in the thumbnail text team up to give you the feeling of getting a lot for a little in this video.

Moment – Telling people to do something at a specific time makes it more tangible and interesting.

How you can use this framework: Tell your audience about a short thing they should do every morning.

Examples of this framework in action:

  • 3 Minutes Only… Do This Before Every Date
  • 7 Minutes Only… Do This After Every Meal

Flop of the Week

3-second filter

Title: How to articulate your thoughts more clearly to women you like

Hook score: -70

Why this flopped: This title is probably too boring. It uses big words and doesn’t convey a clear benefit.

When I think about what makes a good title, I think about the three clickworthy emotions:

  • Curiosity
  • Fear
  • Desire

Does articulating your thoughts more clearly to women you like spark any of these emotions? Maybe desire, but I think there’s a better way we could word it to evoke more emotion. Here are some examples for each one:

Curiosity: “The 3-Second Rule Will Change How You Talk To Women Forever”

Fear: “How To STOP Freezing When You Talk To Your Crush”

Desire: “How To Make Any Woman Fall In Love With You”

TLDR: Write clear and emotional titles about your audience’s fears and desires using simple words.

Framework: Everyone Laughed At His “Useless” (Creation or possession) — Until (Problem)

Hook score: +2756

Why this works:

Fear & Status – Social status is one of the most important things for us, and people laughing at us is the last thing we want.

Curiosity – This builds curiosity in two ways:

  1. It starts a story, but doesn’t finish it, so you have to click to see what happened.
  2. There’s a hint of contrast because apparently his “Useless” tunnel wasn’t so useless after all.

Editor’s note: Many people want to know what’s working *now* on YouTube…

But this title was inspired by an ad that was published in 1926, literally 100 years ago:

“They Laughed When I Sat Down At The Piano – But When I Started to Play!”

How you can use this framework: Tell your audience that people laughed at you or your possession, until something happened.

Examples of this framework in action:

Flop of the Week

get out--value falling

Title: BlackRock Just Abandoned Your Retirement Strategy (New Playbook)

Hook score: -94

Why this flopped: It might be me… but I don’t get it? Who cares if BlackRock abandons my retirement strategy? How does that affect me?

I think this might’ve done better if it were worded so that its effect on the audience is more obvious. Something like:

“BlackRock Just Ruined Your Retirement Strategy (New Playbook)”

Also, I don’t love “(New Playbook)” at the end here. I’d probably just get rid of it to make the title cleaner and punchier:

“BlackRock Just Ruined Your Retirement Strategy”

Flop of the Week

I'm not your nice girl

Title: The One Sentence That Takes You From IRRELEVANT TO HIGH STATUS AT WORK

Hook score: -99

Why this flopped: I think this flopped because it’s too vague. What does high status mean? Does it mean a promotion? A raise?

And the thumbnail text doesn’t really seem to fit with the title.

This video might’ve done better if the title was about a more specific desire and the thumbnail text supported it. Maybe something like:

Title: “The One Sentence That Gets You A Raise At Work”

Thumbnail text: “Say This To Get A Raise”

Alright, that wraps up this week’s Creator Hooks!

I’ve asked some of the best creators on YouTube, “How do you write such great titles?”

And they’ve all said the same thing: “I just model what works.”

So this email will show you 5 videos worth modeling to help you write great titles and save time.

P.S. If you want to save more time and use a title generator that uses all the titles from this newsletter, check out Creator Hooks Pro.

How?

dry land compared to lush forest

Title: We grew a forest WITHOUT planting a single tree

Framework: We (Achieved goal) WITHOUT (Necessary step)

Hook score: +300

Why this works:

Curiosity – This title is counterintuitive because how in the world is it possible to grow a forest without planting a single tree?

How you can use this framework: Tell your audience that you achieved a goal without doing an obvious and hard step you need to take to achieve that goal.

Examples of this framework in action:

  • I grew my YouTube channel WITHOUT making a single video
  • I built an app WITHOUT writing a single line of code

Worth It

man at dry erase board

Title: it sucks, but it’ll skyrocket your energy levels…

Framework: it sucks, but it’ll (Achieve goal)…

Hook score: +434

Why this works:

Negativity – Starting this off with “it sucks” adds some tension and fear and grabs the audience’s attention.

Curiosity – This builds curiosity in two ways:

  1. It opens a loop and makes you wonder what method he’s talking about.
  2. The contrast between “it sucks” and “it’ll skyrocket your energy levels” also builds curiosity.

Desire – Most people would love to skyrocket their energy levels.

Believability – By admitting that “it sucks”, it makes the bold claim of skyrocketing your energy levels more believable.

How you can use this framework: Tell your audience that something sucks, but it’ll achieve a big goal.

Examples of this framework in action:

  • it sucks, but it’ll add 20+ yards to your driver swing…
  • it sucks, but it’ll make your kitchen look immaculate…

P.S. I just got this email from a customer who used Creator Hooks Pro to write a title that helped his new channel get monetized:

You can do it!

don't quit your day job

Title: You’re gonna be a full-time creator in 2026, here’s how

Framework: You’re gonna (Achieve goal) in (Upcoming year), here’s how

Hook score: +491

Why this works:

Desire – This creator’s audience would love to be a full-time creator.

Timeliness – This was published in December of 2025, while 2026 is on everybody’s mind.

How you can use this framework: Tell your audience that they’re gonna achieve a big goal in the future and tell them how.

Examples of this framework in action:

  • You’re gonna be fluent in Spanish in 2026, here’s how
  • You’re gonna be an amazing piano player in 2026, here’s how

The Selling Scene

better call Saul

Title: This One Scene Will Change How You Sell Forever

Framework: This One (Entity) Will Change How You (Activity) Forever

Hook score: +1695

Why this works:

Curiosity – This title builds curiosity in two ways:

  1. It opens a loop and makes you want to know what this scene is.
  2. It also opens a loop with “Change How You Sell Forever” because you don’t know what or how your selling will change.

Scarcity – By focusing on just a single scene, it increases your interest in the scene.

Desire – This creator’s audience would love to get better at selling.

How you can use this framework: Tell your audience about one thing that will change how they do something forever.

Examples of this framework in action:

  • This One Neighborhood Will Change How You Look at Tampa Forever
  • This One Scene Will Change How You Cook Forever

The Pixel Paradox

comparing 3 pictures

Title: Megapixels DON’T Matter… But THIS Does

Framework: (Common, seemingly important thing) DON’T Matter… But THIS Does

Hook score: +1958

Why this works:

Curiosity – This title builds curiosity in two ways:

  1. It’s counterintuitive that megapixels don’t matter.
  2. It opens a loop and makes you wonder what “THIS” is.

How you can use this framework: Tell your audience that something they think matters actually doesn’t, but “THIS” does.

Examples of this framework in action:

  • Pickup Lines DON’T Matter… But THIS Does
  • Your Resume DOESN’T Matter… But THIS Does

Flop of the Week

man at dry erase board - use this!

Title: How To Get Clients To Trust You Step by Step

Hook score: -91

Why this flopped: This title follows a classic copywriting mistake: it’s about a feature, not a benefit.

Why do you care about getting clients to trust you? So you can make more sales.

This title might’ve been better if it were about the end goal, like this:

“How To Make More Money For Your Agency In 2026 (Step by Step)”

Or, if we wanted to add some sauce:

“The One Thing You Need To Make More Money As An Agency Owner”

Now, do titles about benefits always outperform titles about features?

Not necessarily. But you can:

  • A/B test titles to see which one works best
  • Change a title if the video is not performing well with your initial title
  • Research before you publish your video to see if titles about your benefit or feature are doing well for your channel and your competitors.

Of course, there are plenty of other possible reasons this video could’ve flopped, but those aren’t in the scope of this newsletter 🙂
